Week 44 Nkawkaw

WOW! What a crazy week!  This week we had a Mission Tour planned.  It was with Elder Neil L. Andersen, Elder Ulisess Soares, Bishop Christopher Waddel, and Larry Katcher.  That was the Plan and that is what we got!  Kinda wild!!!
But getting there was so stressful.  Trying to fit within the Apostles timeframe the meeting got changed about 10 times.  The place, the day, the time.... man it was crazy! Everyday we got a call about a change, even the day OF!

Friday we had a Mission Conference in preparation for the tour of Saturday! It was sweet! All the missionaries sang hymns before the meeting started.  I don't know if you have ever heard of the Kirtland Temple dedication how the angels were there and on the roof and all. That’s what it was like!

Saturday was awesome and everything just went perfect!  The brethren were awesome!!!  You can just feel the charity and spirit running off of them!  Their messages were perfect! It was kind of a mini general conference! Elder Andersen spoke about Christ and how we need to have a burning testimony of Him, Elder Soares spoke about how to be a successful missionary, Bishop Waddel bore testimony on "Preparing the Way". Man!!! Everything was Unreal!!!!

Something that was said that really stood out to me was when Sister Cosgrave our mission mom was bearing testimony. She quoted Doctrine and Covanents 82:3

"For of him unto whom much is given much is required"

Powerful!!! I Love it! I think it’s also in Luke 12.  Christ says it twice so it’s kinda important... Anyway! What an amazing week with the Apostles!

The area is doing ok. Small small. Just trying our best!

Hope everything is dope! Congrats to all those graduating seniors! hahah!

Week 43 Nkawkaw

Well, it was a wickedly fast week to say the least!  Kinda successful as well!  On Monday we had a phone call from our assistants telling us that we were going on an exchange with them on Thursday!  Man, the exchange was awesome!  We had a really successful day. What made the day the best is that there is a family called the Amankwahs in our branch.  They are the PIONEERS of this area. So the four of us decided to make dinner and to take it to them! Hahaha! So we did and it was AWESOME! They were very happy!

Dinner with the APs and the Amankwahs

This week, as a companionship, we were able to pass out like 15 Books. So, that was great as well!

We also had Missionary Sunday this week.  This is when the missionaries take over and conduct and give all the talks in Sacrament Meeting.  I pondered what to speak on for about 3 days and couldn't think of anything specific!  I can honestly say I had no idea what to speak about when I walked into Sacrament. Hahahah! So during the meeting i just felt like I needed to talk about the Atonement of Jesus Christ.  So I read Luke 22:41-44, 3 Nephi 11:10-11, and Alma 7:11-13.  Then I asked the question of how these scriptures all apply to us daily.  Then I read Doctrine and Covenants 63:20, which was a scripture I found in that sacrament meeting!  If you read it you'll find the message I was trying to get across. (that’s an assignment to those that actually read this.)

It was a great week and we are looking forward to this coming Sunday.  We will be meeting with Elder Neil L. Andersen, Elder Ulysses Soares, Elder Larry S. Katcher and Bishop Christofer Waddel on Sunday as a mission! Crazy huh?! It should be cool!

Hope everything is cool where you are!

Week 42 Nkawkaw

Not a bad week out here in Ghana!  We had our Konongo Zone Conference this past week and that was cool!  It is always nice to get the whole zone together and see how everyone is doing.  We were able to instruct on how we can teach to have people commit.  It was interesting to see what we are all lacking in our teaching skills.  I think it was eye opening for all of us!

The Konongo Zone

Anyway this week was cool.  We found a very humble guy named Austin.  Man, he’s very humble and ready to learn because he doesn't know too much about anything.  He has been hearing to many different things about religion and is just confused and just doesn't really know what to do.  Sounds like someone I've heard of..... Hahaha!  He's a young guy, maybe early 20s and not very educated.  So we'll have to help him out a lot.  I think it'll be awesome!

Cloud Cover Most Days

Also, we had someone dodging us the past couple of weeks, Mary.  She’s young too, like 20 and hasn't been taught by us till this past week.  She’s been like running away, "always busy" you know?  Well we sort of forced a lesson on her Hahahah! It turned out to be a cool experience!  She loved it!  We asked if she wants us to come back and she said, “Of course!”  Hopefully, she reads the Book of Mormon.

Well. I was just reading in Helaman this week.  Chapter 5... the Usual.  It’s interesting when people say we are all saved by grace.  I just laugh and say in my mind "you don't understand."

10. …the Lord surely should come to redeem his people, but that he should not come to redeem them in their sins, but to redeem them from their sins.

11. And he hath power given unto him from the Father to redeem them from their sins because of repentance;…

Whenever I read that I think of a pastor from Georgia or Alabama that says, "By just believing and grace we are saved!"  That’s true, ONLY if we are obedient to the laws and ordinances of the gospel!

Anyway, love you all!

Week 41 Nkawkaw

Well, just another crazy busy week out here in the GKM.  My companion and I went to Kumasi for our MLC.  We were in Kumasi for 3 days!  We had MLC on Thursday, so we traveled on Wednesday and traveled back to our area on Friday after a small exchange with the AP's.  Man, MLC was eye opening.  Our mission really needs to focus on chapters 4 and 10 in PMG (Preach My Gospel).  We need to teach for Commitments!

Downtown Kumasi

The thing week we didn't get a whole lot of time in our area for was finding and contacting. But we did have another baptism, Atta Maxwell!  He is such a sweet guy.  Elder Johnson and I found him and he was progressing.  I didn't realize how fast his baptism came! Hahaha!  But the service was awesome! The baptism went by very nice and he was confirmed on Sunday as well! I’m so happy for Atta. Up next... his wife!

Moses, His Wife, Atta and Me

I saw my trainer, Elder Mbithi, at MLC and he said something to me that I thought was very funny but also very true. I said, "Man, the sun has been tooooo much lately!"  Elder Mbithi said, "Adam fell that men might be. Men are, that they might have joy!"

I gotta a kick out of it.  It’s so true though! Hahaha!!! I love that scripture now! Everything up to this point was all apart of the plan!

Love you all!
