Week 18 Techiman

Well! This week was ok! Nothing much happened. Like, not anything super exciting. Other then it was my last week in the 3! YEEEEEEEEE BOI! Don't give me wrong, the 3 is cool and all, but I was getting tired walking around two areas. Seriously! Walking back and forth between areas here in Dwumoh is not easy at all. At the end of the day you are completely dead. So tomorrow I'll go and finally pick my only begotten, Elder Dago! Time to get my French boy on. Maybe I'll pick up a nice accent.

Anyway, this week at church I had the chance to teach the Elders Quorum. I didn't teach though. For the past week I've been hearing a lot of complaining here around Techiman, but especially in our branch, about how members aren't coming. So I sat down and got them in a circle and told them how it's not the missionaries or the Branch Presidents fault (because we were taking the blame.)  I told them that it’s the members in the church, and the people I'm looking at, the Elders. But I was very nice about it and all.  I told them all of the missonaries successes comes from them. So we came to the conclusion that we'd start a Home Teaching program type thing in our branch. I hope it works!  The members are really getting motivated to bring members back which was a good thing.

This week after a nice tasty bowl of FUFU I got a little sick! Getting sick in Ghana is freakin' stressful! hahah! It ended up passing over one day but man I was thinking I had Malaria!

This week something hit me. In Alma 32 it talks about faith. In verse 28 it starts comparing faith unto a Seed. Elder De carvalho, my companion for 24 more hours, being a motivational speaker, changed the "WORD" to "DREAMS" Read it and change "compare the word unto a seed" to "compare the dream unto a seed" at the beginning of verse 28! It’s the Coolest thing ever!

Week 17 Techiman

WELL! Just another week in par... Dwumoh. Haha! good ol' Dwumoh! Almost paradise. Anyway this week was an okay week. We are still in a 3-some here in Dwumoh, just waiting for my son still.  I wonder how his English is coming along! The 3-some is cool. It's very challenging though. We still cover two areas that aren't small at all.  So it's difficult to be able to see all our investigators. We manage though, we manage.

This week Elder De Carvalho, one of my companions, got very sick. We didn't get to proselyte much on Thursday and Friday because he was having a very sharp stomach pain. It wasn't malaria or typhoid or anything. It was so bad that he had to go to Kumasi to have it checked out.  So Elder Evans and Elder De  Carvalho went and I stayed behind and proselyted with the Zone Leaders. So If I said this week was a successful week, I'd be lying!  I just can't wait for my son to come!  I wanna be full time in my area!

The Branch here in Dwumoh is just normal! This week we are going to sit down with the members and get them on the same page as us as far as the work is concerned.  We've found that we need the members more and more involved. Our investigators are still coming along. Brother Asante is still working it out with his family, same with Daniel.  Anyway I hope everything works out with them!  They want to be baptized!

This week is Thanksgiving!!! like what?!? Wish I could eat some turkey! It’s ok though! We had a zone activity and roasted a Pig! hahahaha! It was so sweet! Craziest thing ever! But I was thinking a lot about Thanksgiving and giving thanks! Giving thanks is so important, especially to the Lord! Maybe everyone can try something here. Get on your knees and just give thanks, that’s it. Even read Doctrine and Covenants 46:32 and 59:7!

Ghana is cool! I'm just ready to have my new missionary come! I think on the 29th! Everyone, have a good Thanksgiving, and even Black Friday!!

Week 16 Techiman

Well. This week was a very long week hahaha! I didn't receive my only begotten son yet. I had to travel down to the mission home this week to pick up my new missionary. I got there and got into the mission home and they told me that my companion had not shown up yet hahah! He's still at the MTC learning English. He is from Cote d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast) and speaks French.  His name is Elder Dago.  So I didn't get my son.  So I asked President what do I do then? He told me I will be in a threesome for 3 weeks! So I'm rocking the threesome right now! It's pretty crazy.

Man I'm so excited to get my son after the 3 weeks! haha The threesome is cool and all, but it can be very difficult. I just realized I didn't even say who my companions are.  They are Elder De Carvalho and Evans. Elder De Carvalho is from Angola, he speaks Portuguese but also speaks English like an American and Elder Evans is from Santaquin.  They are the elders that Elder Mbithi and I shared our apartment with.  We have to cover 2 areas. We switch off areas each day. I'm only in my own area for half the week, which isn't easy. We don't get any time to contact or find because we are just meeting with progressing investigators the whole time. Hmmm, but oh well.  Just gotta roll with the punches I guess, huh? Hahaha! This 3-week wait is making me so much more excited to train though! My gosh! I'll have to teach a greenie English! haha! What da heck!

Anyway nothing really miraculous happened other then the fact that I found an Arizona Mango Mango in Kumasi. ANYWAY! I hope everything is going well back home! I'll just be rocking a three for a little. Enjoy!

Week 15 Techiman TRAINER!

MAN!  What a crazy week. Serious. First of all, you can now call me Father Turner. HAHAHA!  I got called to train! What da heck???  You might be wondering why this email came a little late.  Yesterday we were traveling from Techiman to Kumasi so I can pick up my new companion on Wednesday. My only begotten. My son. Hahaha!!  If I said I wasn't nervous to train I'd be absolutely lying.  I couldn't be more nervous. I just got here!

That means I have to say goodbye to my trainer, Elder Mbithi!  I'll miss that guy!!  I'll have to say goodbye to him tomorrow (Wednesday). Man, I can't believe how fast my training went by! It is sad it is coming to an end. Serious!!

Well this week wasn't bad at all. On Tuesday we had a Mission Tour with Elder Katcher. He's a member of the Quorum of the 70! It was so awesome! He spoke with power! We talked a lot about the spirit and the Book of Mormon. It was powerful! The importance of the spirit is unbelievable out here on the mission. If you don't have the spirit you can't do anything with the work. You'll just be going through the motions! I learned a lot about how to invite the spirit.

We learned a lot about service to our leaders and just service in general. In Alma 17, Ammon shows an amazing amount of service and he is blessed by it. Even the King even thinks he the “Great Spirit.”  Also in Alma 17 he shows how to be a fundamental missionary from verses 14-36.  It’s an amazing chapter in the Book of Mormon.

I hope everyone will get time to read Alma 17.  Anyway, I hope everything back home is great!  I miss all of you!  Next time I email I'll be telling you about my son! Ha ha ha!
